Finn Church Aid Ukraine is looking for a Business Development Manager to take an integral role in supporting and expanding FCA’s programming in Ukraine in order to deliver quality education and quality livelihoods opportunities to those affected by the Ukrainian crisis. The Business Development Manager will be based at FCA’s offices in Kyiv and with occasional travel to Chernihiv, Zhytomyr and Kharkiv. The Business Development Manager will work closely with FCA’s Country Director and Education and Livelihoods Program teams.

FCA’s humanitarian aid programme in Ukraine focuses on education and livelihood sectors in central and eastern Ukraine which involves frequent travels and deployment in areas heavily affected by the war.

Scope of Work & Deliverables

The role of BDM is to connect with and collaborate with the National Organisations to submit quality proposals and contribute to successful fundraising. The BDM also works with FCA Ukraine colleagues and partners to develop proposals incorporating inputs and ensures donor compliance/requirements are met once the project starts. The BDM supports aspects of grant management including coordinating donor reporting, quality review and timely submission. Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Lead fundraising and resource mobilisation initiatives and coordinate proposal management, ensuring there is a priority focus on the right to quality education and the right to livelihood opportunities.

• Maintain donor relationships to identify possible grant funding opportunities, including representing at local donor meetings.

• Maintain and distribute a funding tracker as part of regular reports

• Review proposals and check for compliance to donor programme and financial requirements

• Lead on drafting and reviewing donor agreements, facilitating submissions and signing of agreements and amendments

• Organise and conduct grant start-up and close-out processes and workshops, including orientation for FCA Ukraine and partner staff on grant and donor procedures and requirements, project timelines and budgets

• Coordinate the drafting and completion of project and donor reports, working across the FCA Ukraine team to ensure that reports are completed in a timely manner including the development and maintenance of a reporting schedule

• Maintain contact with FCA and partner staff to track progress and implementation of grant-funded projects

• Maintain an organised document management system, ensuring projects meet any donor’s record keeping requirements

• Provide support to partners as and when needed to resolve grant compliance issues.

• Ensures that FCA’s global policies for Safeguarding, Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

Country Director, Program Manager, program staff and support staff (Finance and logistics); project partners; FCA Grants Unit and National Organisations .

Duration of contract

Duration of contract is 12 months with the possibility of extension, and a probation period of 6 months and mutual termination of 1 month.

Required Expertise and Qualification

The candidate must possess the below minimum qualifications and skills:

  • Experience with proposal development and project management in humanitarian context. Experience in nexus and/or development contexts would also be an asset
  • Understanding of international donor compliance/requirements
  • Networking skills
  • Experience working with Ukrainian civil society organisations and/or Ukrainian government at the national and/or regional level would be an asset
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of the Ukrainian language an added value.
  • Willingness to learn more about education in emergencies
