Job Description: The Business Development Director will lead a business development team in the development of a BD strategy, opportunity identification, resourcing, and bid pursuits. This role will be part of the senior team and will include working directly with the managing director on the design and execution of a business development strategy. The role will have a distinct focus on medium to large-scale pursuits, with smaller BD pursuits remaining the mandate of local office structures. As this will be a new role within Consilient, the BD director will work with the managing director to shape and build out a BD infrastructure capable of strategically targeting and pursuing large-scale initiatives directly.
Our ideal candidate is a strong team player who can effectively lead and manage a BD team to set priorities and effectively deliver across concurrent work streams. They will have led large scale capture of MERL initiatives for multi-lateral and donor government programmes and have experience managing bids and a BD team. They will be highly organized with the ability to manage and hold to account a wider team.
This is a full-time position based remotely. The BD Director will report directly to the Managing Director.
Description of Main Duties:
�� Work with Managing Director on development and execution of a BD strategy;
�� Identify BD needs and resourcing plans;
�� Review and assess upcoming opportunities to develop winning offerings;
�� Lead capture of strategic pursuits;
�� Manage and work with an existing BD team to fulfill an overall BD strategy;
�� Coordinating input to proposals from BD and technical teams.
�� Supporting the development of commercial proposals;
Position Requirements:
�� Bachelors degree in relevant field with prior research experience (MA preferred);
�� Experience managing capture and the proposal process and resources for MERL bids;
�� Demonstrated ability to track opportunities, lead captures plans, and manage business development pipelines;
�� Demonstrated ability to manage proposals including analysis of RFP, translation into a work structure breakdown, schedule development and coordination of price proposal management;
�� Strong writing and editing skills to draft and improve submissions content and presentation;
�� Strong organization and multi-tasking skills;
�� Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
