The USAID-funded Clean Cities Blue Ocean project in the USA, implemented by Tetra Tech International Development is currently accepting expressions of interest for a Business Development Advisor. This position will be located in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The assignment will be completed between 30 June 2022 to 31 December 2022.

The CCBO activity is a five-year initiative of USAID which will serve as USAID’s flagship program to target ocean plastics directly at their source in cities and towns. The project works to prevent ocean plastic pollution by building capacity and commitment for Reducing, Reusing, and Recycling (3Rs) and solid waste management (SWM) in urban and peri-urban settings, particularly in riverine and coastal areas. CCBO works with multiple USAID missions on country-specific implementation of national and local activities, and with USAID/Washington on global-level activities.​

Responsibilities

* Research and identify 3 innovative scalable enterprises that can bring very impactful solutions to 3R/SWM with CCBO team for their business expansion

* Prepare justification documents for the selection and how this expansion will support achieving CCBO’s main indicators.

* Analysis of the current status of the business including financial feasibility, market demand and what segments or niches should be targeted.

* Prepare a sustainable business model including a marketing plan for each individual

* Identify current capacity Gaps and recommend how CCBO can support the expansion of business

* Support reaching for microfinance where required

* Match private sector investment/financing where necessary for business expansion

* Negotiate with the Private sector for investment

* Connect with engagement site ongoing initiatives to bring better impact in managing plastic waste/SWM

Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree in economics, business, international relations, social science, political science, or another related field.

* At least three years of relevant work experience.

* Experience in conducting research and developing business development plans.

* To come up with incubation developing partnerships including identifying partnership opportunities, brokering and cultivating relationships, designing partnership arrangements, facilitating partner negotiations, and formalizing partnership deal structures.

* Experience working with stakeholders across the public, private and nonprofit sectors, and an existing network of contacts to draw upon with respect to public-private partnerships for development.

* Sufficient experience and reputed work history engaging with the private sector.

* Experience in conducting market research, developing strategies

* Should be up to date with private sector news, organizational changes, and economic context that may be useful for decision-making or strategizing CCBO’s work.

* Substantive Networking, collaboration, and partnerships
