The Billing Systems Specialist will support the billing and financial functions of Thornberry’s award-winning EMR to ensure customers are able to provide the highest level of patient care. This is a remote-based position with occasional travel (<25%) for on-site product demonstrations and/or new customer implementation support. You will contribute to product development, including new features and enhancements, and engage with customers to ensure their success using the application. This position blends billing and technical skills as well as industry-specific knowledge with a focus on superior customer service. Below are the responsibilities and requirements for the position.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct application workflow testing for new or updated functions and complete user documentation guides.
  • Work with the Product Development team on roadmap items and any other initiatives.
  • Liaise between Billing and Technical teams to ensure clear and concise detailing of project needs and timelines.
  • Provide help desk support to troubleshoot and resolve customer issues for billing-related tickets.
  • Assist new and current customers in configuring settings and tables based on their workflow specifications.
  • Provide implementation support and lead billing training calls for new customers using NDoc.
  • Assist the Sales team by performing billing demonstrations for prospects.
  • Initiate communication with internal (Thornberry) team members and contracted support teams on changes, updates, and significant modifications to billing-related items and processes.
  • Maintain regular meeting rhythms with billing department to ensure consistency and relay of information.
  • Review regulatory advisories and collaborate with other SMEs to ensure agencies meet compliance with regulations.
  • Provide education quarterly and as needed to Billing team on industry developments, regulatory trends, and billing-focused changes.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and department leads on strategic initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as home health and hospice biller
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience performing Accounts Receivable follow up
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or healthcare-related field
  • Strong fluency in dissecting claim (837I and 837P), claim response (999 and 277) and ERA (835) file elements
  • Must possess analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Previous EMR experience a must
