This is a Hybrid Role. Salary $49,720 – $62,150 annually

Purpose

The Post Release Services (PRS) Caseworker (Level 1), will provide brief post-placement, virtual services to unaccompanied children and their sponsors to support the safe release and facilitate access to needed resources following reunification from federal custody. In addition, the PRS Caseworker will virtually provide targeted case management, strengths-based and culturally and linguistically appropriate case management services. The caseworker will assess for the need for higher level of service and make internal referrals as needed. Caseworkers will conduct outreach and education to community service providers to supplement existing services that do not adequately address unique needs of immigrant children. As the services are virtual, children may be based anywhere in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Fluency in English and Spanish required.
  • Conduct virtual visits with children and sponsors post-release from federal care.
  • Conduct child centered needs assessments by video visit and phone call.
  • Engage sponsors and children through phone and video call, including orienting them to technology for virtual visits.
  • Coordinate referrals in relevant service need areas such as legal, education, medical, mental health; Support immigrant children and sponsor with enrollment and access of services in community.
  • Independently track access to resources and provide close support to address barriers, ensure client safety and stability. .
  • Research and identify resources in communities where children reside.
  • Provide psychoeducation to children and Sponsor on relevant topics.
  • Support children and sponsor to cope with family reunification stressors.
  • Identify concerns utilizing CWS Assessment Tool and make internal referrals for a higher level of care, as needed, and coordinate transfer within the CWS network.
  • Monitor the safety and well-being of children including but not limited to indications of trafficking and abuse and neglect.
  • Serve as a mandated reporter and work with state child welfare as needed.
  • Network and develop partnerships within the local community to secure access for clients to needed services, in the areas where children reside.
  • Write case notes; enter data; complete reports in a time sensitive manner.
  • Participate in supervision, team meetings and trainings as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Minimum education of a bachelor’s degree in social work (BSW) or an equivalent degree in education, psychology, sociology, or other behavioral science Required

Experience:

  • At least 1 year of experience working with children and youth, family reunification/preservation, and or foster care/child welfare and previous work experience and interest working with foreign born populations is required. Ability to provide trauma-informed psychosocial education and case management is required.
  • Prior Experience identifying local community social services and other resources required.
  • Experience using technology to support client’s engagement in services required.
  • Experience providing virtual services strongly preferred.

Skills:

  • Ability to read and write in Spanish and English
  • Ability to establish trust and rapport with clients in a virtual environment
  • Ability to maintain calm and use sound judgment in high stress situations
