Tdh :

Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh) is the leading Swiss NGO focusing on child rights. It is active in more than 30 countries with development and emergency projects. Tdh focuses its action on the 3 following areas of intervention: health, Migration and protection of particularly vulnerable children. Modern management and communication tools ensure the quality of Tdh’s projects. The Foundation constantly aims to improve its services.

Context :

In the current context in Ukraine, Tdh is developing Humanitarian response operations in support of children and their families, aiming to support the frontline service providers, to provide direct humanitarian assistance and to ensure access to information of the displaced people.

Tdh has started operations in Ukraine in 2015 and operated until February 2022 through 2 operational offices in Mariupol and Severodonetsk, while maintaining a coordination/representation office in Kyiv. Following the Invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation Army, the Tdh team has relocated in Ivano Frankivsk, where it started operations for the area of West Ukraine, which is the first operational base for the response to the current humanitarian crisis. The organization is aiming to operate in the Kyiv and surrounding areas and potentially in East Ukraine.

Responsibilities :

The Base Coordinator reports to the Deputy Head of delegation and is in charge of representing Tdh and of implementing Tdh projects in West Ukraine. S/he is responsible for staff management, finance and logistics, implementation of activities, programme development and reporting, and security.

The Base Coordinator will work in direct collaboration with the mission personnel and interface directly with the Senior Management Team, as appropriate for programs strategy, reporting and administration. S/he will have direct access to confidential information, such as the general strategy of Tdh in Ukraine, including programming objectives in the field, financial details, and security guidelines.

A professional sense of security, confidentiality, and proper representation is paramount.

Profile :

Experience :

Management of multi sector program(s) with a health and / or child protection component

Extensive experience in staff/team management

At least 4 years’ experience in a similar position/high management position in the field

Work experience in rural conflict affected areas

Previous budget responsibility of 1 million € per year

Significant knowledge and experience in logistics, admin and finance

Significant knowledge of international humanitarian response and donors

Competencies :

Excellent writing, reporting, communication and negotiation skills in English

Advanced IT skills

Ability to work in an intercultural environment

Flexibility

Responsive, motivated, good communicator

Ability to work under pressure

Languages :

Good working knowledge of English, Ukrainian and/or Russian an asset.
