Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

To ensure that general/clinical waste recyclables are disposed of in the correct manner. Report to supervisor of any incidences where waste is not being segregated, stored or disposed of correctly.

To assist (where applicable) with the regeneration process of cook chill/freeze meals by taking and recording the temperature of the food prior to placing into the regeneration oven and commencing the cooking cycle. To prepare soup, gravy and custard for the meal service. Taking and recording of temperatures at the end of the regeneration cycle. Plating food in order that it can be served to the patients.

To ensure oven gloves and cloths are used an laundered on a regular basis.

To be responsible (if applicable) for clearing away the meal served to patients.

To be responsible for cleaning of crockery and cutlery that is used for the service.

Bed Making – this is only relevant to specific areas within the Trust.

This will include changing of the bed line (provided they have not been soiled with bodily fluids).

To be responsible for ensuring that all equipment and cleaning materials are stored securely and safely.

In addition to the above duties you will also be expected to perform the below key activities in line with your job role;

  • Complete mandatory training in line with Trust policy and procedures
  • To participate in the staff appraisal process and to undertake for any staff you manage
  • To keep yourself updated on all matters relating to Trust policy
  • To provide management supervision where appropriate
  • You will be expected to work collaboratively with key partner organisations, service users, carers, clinicians and other practitioners within the multi-disciplinary team in delivering services; providing a 7-day a week, 24-hours a day service for 365 days a year working shifts, where appropriate and operationally required.
