JOB BRIEF
The Audio-Visual Technician is an essential member of the Event Production & Protocol (EPP) team focused on the effective, high-quality operation of audio-visual systems and technology. This position provides meticulous and professional service in fulfilling the audio visual needs required for high-profile internal and external meetings/events. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Event Production.

TARGET SALARY RANGE
Grade 10- $68,000 – $70,000

The Institute uses the General Schedule salary tables for administering compensation. Offers are determined based upon candidate qualifications, related experience, internal equity, and the amount budgeted for the position.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provides AV support to conference rooms, prepares conference rooms for upcoming presentations, performs post-event checks for conference rooms, presents client supplied briefing materials using installed AV equipment.
• Tests, installs, and configures the following audio visual/videoconferencing equipment: microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards.
• Maintains and operates a wide variety of VTC equipment including cameras, microphones, audio and video playback, recording, and duplication devices.
• Performs routine maintenance and conducts regular operational tests and fault isolation on AV/VTC systems and equipment. Reports all equipment issues to supervisor.
• Evaluates and ensures all installations maintain best practice and client standards.
• Performs basic audio/video editing of in-house recordings. Ensures the safe storage and integrity of meeting/event audio/video data.
• Provides remote audio visual support to staff, utilizing technologies such as Zoom, WebEx, MS Teams, etc.
• Communicates with staff and external sites to schedule compatibility tests, dry runs, meetings, events, etc.
• Meets and coordinates with department members, hosts, and clients regarding technology needs and support for upcoming meetings/events.
• Establishes and maintains effective productive working relationships with vendors, clients, and coworkers.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related discipline (or equivalent combination of education, experience, training, and technical certifications) required.
• Minimum of 2+ years of related AV experience required, including hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
• Intermediate knowledge of audio visual production equipment (audio mixers, lighting/staging, HD/SD/UHD mixed format switchers, etc.)
• Experience operating audio and video editing software, including digital signal processing and effects.
• Experience of virtual collaboration platforms such as Zoom, Teams, and WebEx and their various functionality.
• Highly experienced operating in Mac and Windows operating systems.
• Highly proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint and Excel.
• Excellent time management and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; must have the ability to interact diplomatically at every level of an organization and to work collaboratively across functions, levels, and departments toward shared objectives.
• Agile and able to maintain a positive and professional attitude in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple jobs at varying stages of production, pivoting quickly as priorities shift.
• Highly self-motivated, with an ability to learn quickly and operate autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Must be willing to continue learning and cross-train for other team roles as needed.
• Must be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, prolonged standing, and walking.
• Ability to climb ladders and work in areas within ceilings or on walls.
• Must be willing to work overtime on occasion.
