POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting directly to the assigned Controller, this position assists with administrative, accounting, and bookkeeping functions in relation to accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory tracking and other duties as assigned. This is an entry-level accounting position.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  • Verifies, allocates, and posts details of business transactions to subsidiary accounts in journals or computer files from documents such as sales slips, invoices, receipts, check stubs, and computer printouts.
  • Summarizes details in separate ledgers or computer files and transfers data to general ledger.
  • Assists in the reconciliation of accounts.
  • Assists in the processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable, as requested.
  • Assists in the preparation of journal entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
  • Audits contracts, orders, and vouchers, and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement.
  • Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and totals accounts to ledgers or computer spreadsheets and databases.
  • Prepares vouchers, invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and other records and reviews for accuracy.
  • Reconciles report discrepancies and problems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance, with an emphasis in Accounting preferred.
  • Experience with all Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, written communications and present information in one-on-one and small group situations including customers, clients and other employees.
  • High degree of professionalism; ability to communicate with confidence and tact
