General Summary

This role will work closely with the Senior Manager & Scheduling Coordinator and the wider APAC Programming team to execute the scheduling vision in accordance with the content strategy for Discovery Korea.

This role will oversee the input and management of detailed broadcast and digital schedules (as allocated) for the Discovery channel ensuring all key stakeholders are updated as to achieve the best performance possible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversees scheduling for the channel and optimize ratings by leveraging programming inventory and premieres
  • Designs long-term programming and scheduling strategy as well as short-term rating stunts to drive ratings and revenue
  • Communicates scheduling and content strategy updates to key internal stakeholders and departments, including development of presentation materials to numerous stakeholders
  • Coordinates and updates program scheduling accordingly with any changes to ensure the broadcast operations and manages censorship (S&P), advising and flagging any content that would require editing before broadcast
  • Provides insights on market landscape and movement; acts as key point of contact for other broadcast related matters (e.g. Broadcast laws, Music rights nego, etc)
  • Participates in program promotions by actively engaging in discussions and activities including but not limited to local production and acquisition, OAP, and Marketing
  • Performs other duties and functions as assigned from time to time

Experience Required

  • 4+ years of comprehensive and demonstrable experience in channel programming operations, with minimum 2 years of TV programming and research
  • Experience identifying research insights/analytics and presenting actionable recommendations to develop strategies

Competencies We Are Looking For

  • Knowledge of production economics and management, solid market orientation with ability to interpret audience and competitive analysis data and translate into programming and development objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt and change to a continually changing programming environment with a focus on maintaining ratings growth.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in both Korean and English (if possible), organizational, attention to detail, management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and/or G Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides), particularly Powerpoint/Slides and Excel/Sheets
