Deloitte

Your opportunity

An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic team player to work in the Quality and Risk Management (QRM) team within Advisory Corporate Finance (ACF) at Deloitte.

Deloitte is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the ACF QRM team is responsible for supporting the professionals who conduct corporate finance activities to comply with requirements from an external regulatory perspective, principally the FCA, and the internal risk management requirements of the firm.

The team has responsibility for the corporate finance practice and provides support to other parts of the firm in relation to regulatory matters. The team liaises when required with other member firms of Deloitte around the world to support the corporate finance professionals in adhering to overseas compliance requirements and assists overseas Deloitte professionals when they have to undertake corporate finance activities in the UK.

The team has reporting responsibilities to the senior management of ACF & FA and senior QRM representatives in the firm. The team liaises with other QRM teams across the Financial Advisory practice and with the central risk and compliance functions of the firm.

Are you looking to return to the workplace after an extended career break?

For this role we can offer coaching and support designed for returners to refresh your knowledge and skills, and help your transition back into the workplace after a career break of 2 years or more. If this is relevant for you, just let your recruiter know when you make your application.

Your role

You will help to meet the demands of a dynamic corporate finance business by providing timely technical support to the ACF QRM team.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Management of a range of compliance monitoring programmes and recording systems;
  • Supporting the team in the conduct of compliance testing, to meet certain FCA requirements and firm policies and procedures;
  • Assisting with requests from the FCA;
  • Assisting in the organisation and management of compliance training sessions;
  • Assisting in the preparation of quality reports and senior management updates; and
  • Performing the administrative tasks necessary to discharge ACF QRM’s responsibilities efficiently and effectively.
  • The role will require flexibility to meet the peaks of work that arise in a dynamic corporate finance business.

Your work, your choice

At Deloitte we believe the best impact is the value we add, not the hours we sit at our desk. We carefully consider agile ways of working, both formal and informal, that allow for the best impact for our people and our clients. Please speak to your recruiter about the working pattern that works best for you.

Location: Nationwide

Work pattern: This is a permanent full-time contract opportunity.

Your professional experience

The ideal candidate will have worked for a Corporate Finance Boutique or another Big 4/Top 10 Firm either as a practitioner or within a similar risk team, or you may have a more general risk background with knowledge of Corporate Finance. We are interested in candidates with all of these backgrounds but are looking for mandatory skills and experience in the following:

Successful applicants will have/be:

  • Experience in a regulatory/compliance environment for a corporate finance practice (for example within M&A or Debt Advisory) or exposure to this environment from working within corporate finance
  • An understanding of the FCA’s regulatory framework as applied to corporate finance activities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as you will be dealing with client facing practitioners
  • Keen attention to detail as the role involves the handling of data, reviewing of legal agreements/publications as well as data analysis
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Adaptable, flexible and able to work under pressure
  • Ability to work effectively within a team, supporting senior members of the team
  • Highly motivated with a desire to see tasks through to conclusion

Your service line: Financial Advisory

Advising clients in the moments that define their business takes multiple layers of expertise. Much more than due-diligence, this is about diverse teams of specialists coming together, crossing service lines and international borders to tackle the many, complex issues involved in major transactions. And we have one of the broadest networks in the business. Here, you’ll find fascinating, reer-building projects, market leading approaches, cutting-edge resources, huge clients and inspirational colleagues. As well as opportunities to develop a deep industry or product specialism.

Personal independence

Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints. This can mean that you and your “Immediate Family Members” are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm. The recruitment team will provide further detail as you progress through the recruitment process.
