Assistant Director of Student Success

Position Overview

Make a real difference by growing a much-needed community-based program delivering significant educational access and opportunity. Utilize the institution’s transformational resources and programs to impact student success. Work closely with the middle school team to provide students both academic and emotional growth and support.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of contact to ensure student’s academic success.
  • Provide academic, social, and mental health support for middle school students.
  • Travel to the off-site locations to provide support to students
  • Occasional work on Saturdays and evenings to provide programs for students, families and the mentor program, service learning, and other programs as needed
  • Utilize Salesforce to maintain up-to-date student records for attendance, grade management, student engagement, and growth
  • Serve in an administrative and/or teaching role at the Middle School Academy and Summer Institute
  • Teach signature courses
  • Assist in the planning and management of the Middle School Academy Cultural Events
  • Assist the Director of High School Placement and Director of Admissions
  • Participate in and oversee projects and committees

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Fluency in Spanish, Bengali, or Mandarin is strongly preferred
  • Commitment to and compassion for educational access and success for underrepresented populations
  • Interface with families who speak English as a second language
  • Ability to interact with prospective students, families, school partners, and community-based organizations
  • 1+ year professional experience with training in nonprofit work, youth development and/or education with K-8th grade teaching
  • Availability to work until 6:30 PM twice a week and 1-2 Saturdays a month during the school year
  • Ability to travel throughout the five boroughs
  • Strong written, administrative and organizational skills and attention to detail; a problem solver and team player
  • Agility in a fast-moving environment.

Compensation

  • 50,000+ (commensurate with experience)
