In the area of Channels Services, we are looking for an Application Operations Manager to strengthen our team with focus on our applications “Campaign Manager” and “Digital Client Community”.

The Application Operations Manager is responsible to operate an IT Service end-to-end within the defined SLA, including understanding and tracking the service dependencies. IT Service means the logical IT Service including one to many corresponding applications (for which dedicated Application Responsible may have the accountability). In the role of a so called “IT Service Owner”, the Application Operations Manager is the first point of contact for operations, support, maintenance, and overarching service lifecycle related questions. During delivery of new features, the Application Operations Manager ensures proper implementation of non-functional requirements together with Application Engineer and System Architect and coordinates the transition from development environments into test (e.g. UAT) and Production environments.

Bank Julius Baer is currently undergoing an agile transformation; hence, you should be familiar with agile delivery models (preferably SAFe). Furthermore, we follow a DevOps approach (“you build it, you run it”) within banking guidelines.

YOUR CHALLENGE

Maintaining the IT Service or infrastructure component (Run-the-Bank):

  • Ensure that SLA, OLA are in place for IT Service and manage deviations together with the product vendors
  • Manage the operating model to ensure support levels and effort sharing of operational tasks (e.g. monitoring of service availability and performance) with 1st and 2nd Level Support
  • Responsible to provide 3rd level support (event management like Incident & Problem Mgmt.) for the IT Service and (together with the Application Responsible and the respective vendors) for the application instances corresponding to the IT Service
  • Be involved in the design of service architecture & integration
  • Aligns with providers and infrastructure in respect to lifecycle for IT Service: Planning and Execution
  • Continuously improve the service availability, performance, capacity & knowledge management
  • Provide ITSCM (IT Service Continuity Management); organize and execute disaster recovery tests
  • Support the System Architect in the raising and maintenance of technical debts
  • Execute required audits, controls (e.g. access rights), annual risk assessment in order to identify operational IT risks and manage related risk mitigations and actions. Manage IT Security process (e.g. firewalls) for service
  • Responsible to achieve full adherence to IT Governance (together with Application Responsible and the Release Train Engineering)
  • Owns Service and Asset Configuration Management of allocated IT Services (HPSM, ARIS, IAM roles)

Responsible for changing an IT Service or infrastructure component (Change-the-Bank):

  • Ensures proper implementation and validation of non-functional requirements together with the Application Responsible
  • Release planning in strong collaboration with the stakeholders from business, delivery program/project, Application Responsible and especially Release Management
  • Gatekeeper for any change in the IT Service, as such decides with the Application Responsible on production readiness from IT perspective: Provide Go / No Go recommendation for IT Service Changes

General responsibilities:

  • Work together in a cross functional and globally distributed team using agile methodologies as part of a DevOps centric model
  • Support the software development and technical implementation of the application
  • Strive for and ensure early testing (unit testing, shift left), do and encourage code reviews
  • Ensure applications are documented properly, especially in regard to operations (operational manual)

YOUR PROFILE

Required skills:

  • Proven experience in digital channels area applied to the financial (banking) industry
  • Proven experience in operations of integrated vendor products (Customized of the Shelve products)
  • Experience with product related application operations / application management
  • Excellent and broad technology understanding overall
  • Good understanding of RESTful services and APIs
  • Team player, strong collaborator with the ability to take ownership and communicate on different levels/to various stakeholders.
  • Commitment with drive and passion for delivering high quality solutions with reasonable amount of effort
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, well-structured and reliable
  • Ability to analyze complex problems related to the applications and to seek and provide solutions with minimal guidance from the superiors with an attitude for support and hands-on.
  • Sound understanding of agile methodologies (preferably SAFe) and DevOps
  • Thinking end-to-end, connecting the dots, understanding the “user journey”
  • Fluent in English

Nice to have skills:

  • Agile certification (e.g. SAFe) is a plus
  • Technical logfile analysis with Splunk is an advantage
  • Experience in Software Engineering (development of software and software components) on the mentioned tech. stack is an advantage
  • Technical knowledge of BSI CX is an advantage
  • Experience in Jenkins and Gitlab
  • Experience in setting up and improving automated CI/CD pipelines
  • ITIL knowledge / certification
  • German
