Anti-Trafficking Community Engagement Coordinator

Job Overview:

The goal of the Human Trafficking Community Engagement Coordinator is to strategically inform a variety of community stakeholders and the community at large about the work of the IRC’s Human Trafficking program, provide education related to Human Trafficking, and conduct outreach to identify and refer potential survivors. The HT Community Engagement Coordinator works closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to develop community support for the IRC’s Human Trafficking program.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement an effective local Human Trafficking community engagement strategy for the benefit of the community and IRC’s clients.
  • Collaborate with IRC colleagues to amplify messaging about IRC’s Human Trafficking work and how community members can support survivors of trafficking.
  • Increase community awareness of human trafficking through outreach and public awareness.
  • Meet with community members, deliver trainings, and presentations, represent IRC at local meetings, and create tools, fact sheets, presentations, and templates.
  • Provide education to service providers on human trafficking and service delivery strategies.
  • Collaborate with the volunteer coordinator to place volunteers and interns in the human trafficking program.
  • Coordinate Human Trafficking events in collaboration with the Program supervisor and the Big Country Human Trafficking Coalition.
  • Assist with the collection and distribution of in-kind and monetary donations as needed.
  • Track all match coming into the program and generate monthly match reports.
  • Use personal, insured vehicle and/or public transportation (where available) to travel and transport clients and materials as needed throughout the service delivery area.
  • May train and manage volunteers, and interns.
  • Track all their grant deliverables tied to community engagement, maintain the supporting documentation, and provide the data and information to the program supervisor/manager for reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • 2-3 years of related professional experience.
  • Prior volunteer or professional experience in community development or volunteer coordination strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferred.
  • Strong relationship-building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships.
  • Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.
  • Self-direction and initiative, when needed, to take the lead and to follow through to completion.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written; the ability to communicate in Spanish is desired.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.

Certificates or Licenses:

Valid driver’s license, and access to a reliable vehicle with current insurance.

Work Environment:

A combination of standard office environment and travel within the service delivery area. Some evening and weekend activities will be required.

Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
