AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) is a residential service program for young adults who want to lead a tight-knit team while making a difference across the United States. AmeriCorps team leaders in the NCCC FEMA Corps program deploy to one of our training locations, then travel with a team of 8-12 young adults, ages 18-26, throughout their assigned region for 12 months of full-time, immersive service. Apply by March 31 to begin service in July. Training Location: Sacramento, CA Requirements to serve: Must be 18 years or older Must be a U.S. Citizen Must possess a valid driver’s license Must pass an initial drug screening test upon arrival to the program Must be available to leave your hometown and serve full-time for 12 months (July 2022-July 2023) Benefits: During service, you will receive: Basic expenses, including communal housing, meals, and a limited health benefit. All program-related travel, including to your training location, projects, and back home after your service term. A modest living allowance for your personal expenses. Position Description: You will lead a team through administrative service in the areas of logistics, community relations, individual and public assistance, planning, preparedness, and recovery activities. Your team could be conducting data entry, mapping disaster evacuation routes, or helping sign up survivors for assistance, so adaptability is key. As a team leader, you will be crucial to your team’s success. You’ll be responsible for directing, motivating, and mentoring a diverse team of young people. FEMA and AmeriCorps staff will look to you for coordination of project logistics.
