  MAIN OBJECTIVE
AVSI is looking for an Agronomist for its AICS-funded project ���������Iniziativa di assistenza umanitaria a sostegno della popolazione vulnerabile, sfollata, rifugiata e rientrata in Iraq.��������� in Nimrud, Ninewa. ������

The Agronomist will work in this framework to ensure correct and effective implementation and follow up training and support activities related to agriculture for beneficiaries and local institutions.
������
S/he will work alongside one Referral Expert, one Cash for Work Expert, two Agriculture Trainers, and two Data Collectors. S/he will be supervised by the Project Officer and the Project Manager.
The activities will include, but not be limited to:

Rehabilitation and cleaning of the water station
Provision of agricultural kits and irrigation systems
Capacity building to local authorities, farmers, etc.

MAIN RESPONSABILITIES

S/he will support the team in the selection phase of the beneficiaries based on the arranged criteria;
S/he will support the logisticent process regarding the crops and materials needed for the rehabilitation of the irrigation systems in the farms;
S/he will follow up the activities in the farmswith high focus on quality standards;
S/he will support the Trainers for Agriculture in the preparation and implementation of technical trainings to improve farmers management skills;
S/he will provide continuous technical assistance to farmers to improve production (both qualitative and quantitative), post-harvesting and handling of produce;
S/he will ensure the introduction of new techniques to ensure the augmentation of the production and environmentally friendly use of the resources;
S/he will support activities to improve the business skills of the producers as per project design;
S/he will promote capacity building and technical skills to authorities;
S/he will facilitate organization and follow up of exchange visits involving local stakeholders
S/hecontribute to monitoring and evaluation of activities;
S/he will support the program team in any other required tasks not mentioned above.

REPORTING TO:������Project Officer and Project Manage STUDIES REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture/Agricultural engineering

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

At least 3-5 years of proven work experience as a Agronomist or Agricultural Engineer or similar role;
Experience in the agricultural sector within the area of implementation;
Experience in developing tenders and following procurement procedures;
At least 2 years of experience in working in the humanitarian sector and engaging with beneficiaries;
Good experience and attitude in working with agricultural producers, partners, and allies;
Ability to write quality technical reports;
Experience in monitoring progress against targets;
Experience in engaging with local authorities;
Effective written and verbal communication in English;
Good knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software and of social media.
