HelpAge International is recruiting for an Age Inclusive Technical Specialist, who will work creatively to deliver impact and respond to relevant opportunities in collaboration with the humanitarian colleagues and be able to shape and design specific activities that are relevant at any point in time. The position holder will among other responsibilities be responsible in developing suitable tools in line with the global project, test them, organize them, and promotes them as well as in designing relevant trainings. The detailed Job Description is as attached.

The Organisation

HelpAge International is entering into an exciting phase of its evolution as we fundamentally transform what we do, how we do it and how we are organized. Driven by our commitment to the localization agenda, we are evolving the way we partner and deliver value at the country and local level. In the coming 3 years, we will localize our country offices and programmes, and develop new and diverse forms of partnerships globally.

We seek to give primacy to local agents for change. To this end, we will replace all programmes delivered by HelpAge staff and resources on the ground with implementation by partners. Key areas for impact/influence and responsibilities

These outline the broad areas of responsibility in the role, but in collaboration with your humanitarian colleagues you will be able to shape and design specific activities that are relevant at any point in time. We want you to work creatively to deliver impact and respond to relevant opportunities.

You will:

• Join a team of three staff members (two of them from our partner organisation Humanity and Inclusion) dedicated to a technical assistance project supporting the Global Protection Cluster (GPC).

• Map and assess inclusion of older people in the assessment and planning of humanitarian action.

• Develop suitable tools in line with the global project, test them, organize them, and promote them.

• Design relevant trainings, test them and dispense them at field and global levels.

• Participate in analysing HPC methodologies for a better coverage of protection needs taking in consideration intersectionality vulnerabilities and improve global and local strategic frameworks.

• Ensure that a meaningful participation of targeted groups is understood and promoted in developed processes and policies, for our partners.

• Develop and test intersectionality & conflict-sensitive toolboxes for Global and National Protection cluster and its partners.

• Create, organize and manage trainings (both at global and field levels) for our partners.

Let’s talk about you You will be someone with:

• University degree, preferably Master’s degree in Humanitarian development and/or Peace & Conflict studies or related topics (eg Disability, Gender, Ageing) or equivalent evidence of analytical and critical thinking in humanitarian contexts.

• Field and programmatic experience in humanitarian work in conflict/peacebuilding environments in a variety of contexts.

• Design and implementation of inclusive humanitarian response. • Strong understanding of intersectionality analysis and age and gender transformative actions.

• Demonstrable experience of working within the international humanitarian system, preferably in the Global Protection Cluster. • A high level of interpersonal skills and experience of working with a range of stakeholders with varying interests and perspectives.

• Proven experience in influencing decision-makers.
