Advocacy Assistant – Voluntary basis with stipend

Mobile Info Team is a Greece-based organisation that provides legal advice and information to people seeking asylum and refugees throughout Greece and as part of the Border Violence Monitoring Network (BVMN). BVMN is an independent Network of NGOs and associations mainly based in the Balkan regions and in Greece which monitors human rights violations at Europe’s borders and advocates to stop the violence exerted against people on the move.

What we are looking for: Mobile Info Team is seeking an independent, dedicated, compassionate individual with strong knowledge of human rights and issues affecting people-on-the-move.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Undertake research and analysis for policy papers, UN submissions, research reports and media pieces
• Assist in the management of social media to increase outreach and raise awareness on the situation in Greece
• Assist with drafting advocacy materials
• Quantitative and qualitative data collection, including database analysis and taking testimonies of border violence
• Monitor the human rights situation in Greece

Essential skills/experience:

• Degree in a relevant field (international relations, law, policy, human rights, migration studies etc)
• Excellent English writing skills
• Experience in research, policy or advocacy
• Confident working independently as well as part of a diverse team
• Willing to relocate to Greece for a minimum of 6 months.
• Must be eligible to reside in the EU

Desirable:

• Knowledge of pushbacks and/or border violence;
• Knowledge of the Common European Asylum System
• Knowledge of the Greek political/refugee context
• Experience carrying out testimonies and/or interviews
• Social media and communications experience

Commitment: We are looking for a commitment of at least 6 months starting August 2022. To facilitate your time here, we are able to offer a compensation of 400 Euros per month after completing a 1-month trail period.
