We are looking for an Advocacy Assistant-Accessibility to work closely with the Global Advocacy Manager (Social Inclusion) in Accra, Ghana.

About the role
As an Advocacy Assistant-Accessibility you will provide personal assistance (day to day accessibility support) to establish and maintain systems to ensure that the Global Advocacy Manager – Social Inclusion, who serves as a member of the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD)., can carry out their role effectively with relevant reasonable adjustments and accessibility support in place.
The Advocacy Assistant will be critical to ensure that the Committee member has all the relevant information and support to perform their work.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Provide specialist accessibility support for the Global Advocacy Manager – Social Inclusion (40%)
- Ensure relevant electronic documents are shared in accessible format and organised for use by the Global Advocacy Manager – Social Inclusion.
- Provide information from non-accessible electronic sources in an accessible and in organised manner for Global Advocacy Manager – Social Inclusion.
- Compile minutes and reports for meetings, workshop, and work trips.
- Keep the Global Advocacy Manager – Social Inclusion updated so she is aware of her immediate environment and prompted on changes.
- Provide sighted guide services including international travel when required.
- Administrative support (30%)
- Handle correspondence and manage travel preparation, trip expenses, and financial retirement.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings and conference calls.
- Manage Global Advocacy Manager’s electronic diary, assessing priority of appointments and reallocation, as necessary.
- Manage other administrative systems and processes.
- Provide specialist accessibility support for other colleagues and partners, as required (25%)
- Work with the Global Advocacy Manager – Social Inclusion to identify where supporting other colleagues is necessary.
- Provide support where relevant and required to colleagues and partners with accessibility requirements.
- Actively participate in the Policy and Global Advocacy Directorate (5%):
- Contribute to organisational annual planning, reporting, meetings and representation.
- Contribute to broader organisational objectives and decision-making where relevant.

Jobholder Entry Requirements – the essential knowledge, skills and behaviours required:
Knowledge (Education & Related Experience):
- Experience of working with people with disabilities, including on accessibility support
- Ability to assimilate technical documents and present results in simple and understandable formats
- Experience of working in an NGOINGO environment
- Experience of supporting administrative functions
Skills (Special Training or Competence):
- Good writing skills, including attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work well in a team
- Relationship building skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong communication and relationship building skills with internal and external audiences
- Ability to take initiative and work independently, with little supervision
- Excellent Microsoft Office knowledge
