Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) is currently looking for an Accountant based in Erbil for its Mission in Iraq.

About PAH:

Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) is an international non-governmental humanitarian organization providing humanitarian and development help worldwide since 1992. So far, the interventions have been carried out in 46 different countries. By possessing long-standing expertise in the implementation of projects in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Food Security and Livelihoods, as well as Nutrition and Education, PAH concentrates its global activities on ensuring sustainable and stable development of regions suffering from the consequences of armed conflicts, natural disasters and other humanitarian crises.

PAH has been present in Iraq since 2016, delivering humanitarian aid to the most vulnerable of the conflict-affected population in hard to reach areas. PAH provides assistance to internally displaced people, refugees, returnees and hosting communities in camps and non-camp locations, elderly and single mothers, working in the sectors of Protection, WASH, MPCA, Food Security and Livelihoods.

Accountant will hold the following responsibilities:

  1. Keeping the accountancy records and other financial transactions on the mission, preparing and submitting financial and tax statements in accordance with the current legislation of KRI/Federal Iraq;
  2. Preparation of accounting part of Annual Financial Report for KRI/Federal Iraq;
  3. Registration of transactions in NAV accounting system;
  4. Reporting of the flow of the funds of the Mission and cash incomes and outcomes;
  5. Maintaining cash records in line with cash management procedure;
  6. Monitoring and reconciliation of PAH bank accounts;
  7. Pay and record salaries and allowances paid to the employees, assist HR department in preparation of payroll according to the allocation;
  8. Documents control: In close cooperation with Finance Officer controls the invoices, vouchers and ensure other supplementary documents are properly issued and timely provided to the employees according to the schedule, ensures correct processing of abovementioned documents;
  9. In close cooperation with Finance Officer and Logistics Officer ensure that all financial transactions and payments comply with PAH procurement policy and procedures and checks contracts with suppliers;
  10. Update cashbook and do cash count following the mission cash management policy;
  11. Update bank registry and make sure that every transaction is registered;
  12. Performs other tasks assigned by Head of Operations;
  13. Reports on a weekly basis to Head of Operations.

 


Qualifications & Preferred Skills

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a relevant field;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or any relevant field.
  • Experience with NGO’s is preferable;
  • Familiar with correspondence to Government and other agencies.
  • Detail Oriented and Organized.
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills with proven ability to work effectively and harmoniously with a team of colleagues;
