Job Purpose

AXA IM Americas is looking for an accountant who will assist the Americas Finance team in the accounting for our companies based in the US and Mexico, including preparing client invoices and following up on payment, reconciling bank accounts, managing selected account payables, submitting the electronic accounting and ensuring VAT compliance in Mexico.

Key Accountabilities

  • Participate in the monthly and quarterly closing procedures.
  • Review, reconcile and analyze accounts and transactions in the general ledger, ensuring the accounting for the area of responsibility and following up on any payable/receivable administration.
  • Prepare and execute monthly journal entries including accruals and adjustments as needed.
  • For our Mexico entity, collaborating with external provider to ensure timely filings of VAT (monthly VAT report and VAT declaration), as well as ensuring the monthly income tax payments and the administration of withholding tax.
  • Accounts receivable: contribute to the billing of our US and Mexico companies and help further streamline and document the invoicing process.
  • Accounts payable: assit in the handling of specific vendors and eventually managing the timely payment and related journal entries.
  • Compliance: coordinate with the US and central Finance teams to document any exception, while enforcing financial controls.
  • Ad hoc projects: participate in ad hoc projects as needed, contribute to finance workstreams (accounting processes, payroll environment, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting and/or Finance or equivalent thereof

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting, preferrably in the financial sector (Asset Management, Insurance, Banking).

Knowledge and Skills

  • Full proficiency in English (spoken and written) as this is the principal working language.
  • Strong knowledge of Mexican electronic accounting and VAT norms.
  • Robust accounting skills with agility in managing the main statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
  • Working knowledge of IFRS.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Previous relevant experience with an online accounting platform (knowledge of UNIT4 Coda is a plus).
  • Proven track record of delivery in a multinational, fast-paced, delivery-oriented environment with strict deadlines and high-quality standards.
