About the organization

The Armed Conflict Location & Event Data (ACLED) is a disaggregated data collection, analysis, and crisis mapping project. The ACLED team conducts analysis to describe, explore, and test conflict scenarios, and makes both data and analysis open for free use by the public. ACLED material is regularly used to inform journalism, academic research, and public discourse on conflict, and to support the work of practitioners and policymakers. ACLED is the highest quality and most widely used real-time data and analysis source on political violence and protest around the world.

The role

As an Account Executive, you’ll be part of an international, diverse team of motivated individuals tasked with providing the very best in global conflict data. Using a consultative approach, you will prospect, build relationships, and set meetings with corporations from a variety of industries around the world. This position reports to the Head of Corporate Licensing.

This position is fully remote and can be done from any location with reliable internet service (EST working hours preferred). The start date for this position is April 2024. Specific roles and responsibilities

The Account Executive will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Work with the Corporate Licensing Development Representative in strategizing account plans, conducting outreach, creating custom pitch decks for prospects, and leading demos of our products
  • Identify the interests, needs, and challenges/opportunities of each prospective customer
  • Work through contract negotiations and close agreements, as well as renewals and upselling
  • Build a metrics-driven corporate licensing pipeline of new opportunities
  • Accurately forecast monthly, quarterly, and annually expected up-sell revenue
  • Accurately forecast annual retention rates and work on planning to renew strategic customers
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure post-sale corporate client success
  • Be a champion of our global mission of bringing clarity to conflict

Skills and competencies

ACLED is seeking applicants who have the following skills and experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in corporate sales and client engagement
  • Self-starter who has a desire to learn, grow, and excel in their role
  • Ability to work remotely with limited supervision
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Good strategic judgment, entrepreneurial self-starter with exceptional attention to detail
  • Deep intellectual curiosity about our product and understanding our customers’ motivations
  • Professional communication skills — both verbal and written
  • Track record of selling B2B SaaS/Data
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to credibly influence at all levels, internally and externally
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
  • Prior experience using CRMs (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.)

Desirable

  • Experience using collaboration tools like Slack/Asana/G-Suite
  • Experience selling to Insurance institutions, Financial institutions, Analytics institutions, or Supply Chain institutions
  • Fluency in other languages, particularly French, Spanish, Arabic, and Japanese

Other Requirements

  • Ability to travel globally for client meetings, industry events, and organization events (15%)
