Mission & Responsibilities

Under the management of the Deputy Country Director Program, you will be in charge of implementing high quality Food security and livelihood / Disaster Risk Reduction (FSL-DRR) mechanism projects, in conformity with the country strategy and the standards set internationally, by ACF and by national policies.

More precisely you will:

  • Contribute to deliberations on strategy an the positioning of FSL-DRR Department
  • Identify needs and contribute to project elaboration
  • Support field teams technically on FSL-DRR projects
  • Contribute to the quality, accountability and impact measurement process of his/her projects
  • Participate in the coordination, representation and partnerships of ACF in his/her area of intervention
  • Supervise and manage the team (agricullture expert, emergency expert)
  • Contributing to capitalization and technical development in his/her sector

Qualifications, Skills & Experiences

Experience:

  • At least two years of working experience in emergency context and response
  • Strong previous experience in needs assessment
  • Strong previous experience in Agriculture and food security-livelihood projects
  • Strong previous experience in Emergency projects (NFI and Cash and Vouchers Assistance)
  • Previous experience in rapid response projects will be a key asset
  • Previous experience in emergency supply schemes (purchase, distribution…) …
  • Strong experience in humanitarian environment
  • Experience in linking relief, recovery and development projects will be a key asset
  • Strong background in community-based disaster risk reduction (CBDRR) and overall disaster preparedness.

Technical skills:

  • Very good organizational and planning skills
  • Strong communication skills, patient and diplomatic
  • Very good negotiation skills
  • Strong ability in coordination (external coordination) and in response management
  • Very good team management and supervision skills, leadership
  • Knowledge of international minimum standards (SPHERE…)
  • ery good knowledge in food security and livelihood programming
  • Knowledge and previous experience in project cycle management
  • Knowledge of humanitarian actors including institutional donors
  • Knowledge of humanitarian environment challenges (Policies, UN humanitarian reform, stakeholders…)
  • Extend and relevance of experience in identifying and preparing programmes strategies and policy on humanitarian and transition contexts at country level

Languages: Fluent in English (written, spoken, read).

Computer skills: Good computer skills (Microsoft office package, internet, GIS)

Other:

  • Good redaction skills
  • Very good analytical skills – context and needs analyses
  • Good pedagogical skills
  • Adaptability to work in harsh environments
  • Rigor, patience, autonomy and capacity of adaptation are necessary skills.
