Golden State Opportunity (GSO) is a nonprofit dedicated to ending poverty by providing all Californians with the tools to build financial well-being and thrive. It is led by doers who educate, engage, and empower working families. GSO’s groundbreaking, culturally relevant work in thirteen languages reaches millions of low-income Californians and connects them with the financial resources they need to survive and then thrive.
GSO’s Fellowship Program is an opportunity for aspiring leaders in nonprofit, anti-poverty, or advocacy work to gain critical organizing and leadership skills. Fellows will graduate not only with practical skills and knowledge, but as a part of a network of passionate leaders in the anti-poverty workspace. As part of the program, fellows will regularly meet with GSO leadership to learn about nonprofit, anti-poverty, and advocacy careers.
GSO is seeking to engage an Los Angeles County based Community Organizing Fellow from January 16 – May 24 to support and advance its CalEITC+ program outreach and education efforts. This role will represent GSO at local events and meetings, making presentations and sharing information about resources for low-income people and families, including tax credits, public benefits, and financial well-being.
Fellow is also to attend and participate in GSO’s Community Action Day in Spring 2024.
Schedule: For the position, applicants must be available for 15-20 hours per week. The schedule is flexible based on events and activities, but there is a requirement for at least two shifts between Tuesday and Thursday, from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon, specifically for in-person presentations related to CALEITC. Applicants with weekend and evening availability as well are highly encouraged. *Reliable transportation is essential for this role.*
Compensation: $22-24 per hour
