Position Summary
The Public Health Preparedness Intern contributes to the advancement of local public health practice by providing support to preparedness projects. The Public Health Preparedness Intern will support efforts across the portfolio, with a specific focus on internal functional activities such as analysis, research, evaluation, writing, and project coordination, usually under the direction of a director or senior program analyst. For local health departments (LHDs) and their staff, NACCHO is the premier source of learning, knowledge, and future-oriented research for local public health professionals, and provides resources, education, ideas, and advocacy to enhance the voice and visibility of the critical role that LHDs play in keeping our communities healthy and safe.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Conduct or provide support for literature review related chemical preparedness and local health departments including searching peer reviewed and grey literature. Outputs of the review will be used to inform development of a chemical preparedness guide for local health departments.
- Write support report on results/findings of literature review and methodology
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Identifies the information needed to solve a problem effectively
- Works collaboratively with others to support technical assistance activities.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong scientific writing skills
- Ability to maintain positive communication and relationships with members, staff, and all levels of management
- Ability to effectively communicate about the status of projects
- Strong interest in public health
Education And/or Experience
- Current graduate student in a public health, or related program.
REPORTS TO: Director, Preparedness

This is a remote position, 15 hours a week with compensation at $15 – $18 hour. The intern must use a personal laptop or computer.
