At Cocoon House we empower young people, families, and communities in Snohomish County to break the cycle of homelessness through outreach, housing, and prevention. Currently the Director of Development and Community Relations is responsible for leading a team of three others towards the successful execution of raising $2M in private contributions. In close partnership with the leadership team, you will oversee all aspects of fundraising including stewardship, corporate giving, private foundations, special events, marketing, and all external communications. The Directors will be responsible for helping to set the vision and strategy for the department.

Our Director of Development and Community Relations….Responsible for projecting and setting revenue goals on an annual basis.
Develop and implement all agency strategies for fundraising, including but not limited to, annual fund, special events, donor stewardship, social media, marketing and community relations.
Work closely with the DCR team to ensure branding is consistent across the agency and in the community. Oversight of Virtuous, our donor management system, to ensure accurate supporter information is collected and assist with pulling reports.
Identify successes in meeting revenue goals and to identify where the gaps are and help create strategies to address them.
Represents Cocoon House in a positive manner in both public and private venues and events.

What does a shift look like?

Full-TimeChannels of communication is done through e-mail blasts, meeting with donors and the community special appeal letters, leading tours.
Attending board meetings while ensuring support the development of marketing and social media plans.
Includes oversight and support of the creation and execution of marketing campaigns.
Provide effective guidance, supervision and strategic oversight to all aspects and team members of the DCR Department.
Attend all required meetings, including but not limited to monthly board meetings and weekly supervisions with team members and supervisors.

Requirements:

General:Minimum of three years’ experience managing fund raising and communications for non-profit organizations with annual budgets of at least $1 million.
Demonstrated success in cultivating and growing a network of individual, corporate, government and foundation donors.
Sound understanding of annual fund management and direct mail, major gift solicitation and cultivation, grant-writing, event planning, and local funding trends.
Must be computer savvy and have a working knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook etc. and ability to learn computer programs quickly.
A valid Washington State Driver’s license and proof of personal insurance.
Excellent public speaking skills required with ability to communicate information and concepts to diverse social, economic and cultural communities.
Highly organized and extremely detail-oriented.
Persuasive, interpersonal skills in all forms of personal, verbal and written communication.
Clear a background check with DCYF.

Preferred:Bachelor’s degree in related field to role.
Familiar with Snohomish County
Knowledge of using Virtuous Donor Software

Be able to hear voices and alarms.
Ability to read and comprehend a variety of materials
Ability to operate phone, computer, and record information for files and logs
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Must have ability to run up and down indoor and outdoor stairwells in case of youth emergency.
Go up and down stairs
