Position Summary:

1 x Legal Intern (12 Month Secondment) – INTERNAL & EXTERNAL Applicants welcome

Serve as a legal intern to the Company, supporting and working directly with the legal department in order to assist and address a variety of legal matters affecting the Company. This position will report to the General Counsel and the members of the legal department as well as to the Senior Data Privacy & Protection Manager for matters dealing with personal data. The successful candidate will handle a variety of multi-national legal issues that will offer the candidate an opportunity to develop his or her understanding of the legal issues that the Company navigates on a daily basis, while also building on and developing the necessary competences required to succeed in the legal industry. The successful candidate will have strong academic background and references.

People or Process Management Responsibility:

Work with General Counsel, members of the legal department, shared paralegal resources and legal department staff, and Senior Data Privacy & Protection Manager.

Coordinate work with external counsel and internal stakeholders under the guidance and supervision of the Company’s legal department.

Assist in the ownership of various corporate processes and policies and advise the legal department in a number of areas through research and exploration into constantly evolving areas of law and regulation.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Understand and support full range of regulatory compliance affairs.
  • Stay up to date and advise the legal department on various regulatory changes and requirements at a federal, state, county, and international level.
  • Support data privacy efforts through governance protocol, policy review and revision.
  • Assist with acquisition activities as necessary, including due diligence, purchase agreement drafting and integration of new business, and ensuring compliance throughout all stages.
  • Assist with legal affairs of company operations in 18 countries as well as matters related to centralized corporate functions.
  • Participate in enterprise-wide legal team meetings and activities attended by Company affiliates.
  • Assist with drafting agreements, including but not limited to distribution and supply agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and independent contractor agreements.
  • Assist with corporate governance activities globally including required filings, officer and director changes, board resolutions, review/drafting of joint venture agreements, and document creation for dividend payments.
  • Assist with material litigation with key stakeholders including litigation holds and participation in claim reviews.
  • Assist with business operations through policy creation including training documentation and supporting legal department in preparing and presenting on-site training.
  • Work with external counsel globally.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Actively working to obtain a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree or, if based internationally, a degree similar or equivalent to the J.D. degree in which the candidate may work in the legal profession upon completion, and from a respected law school with strong academic record.
  • Strong ethical background and commitment to integrity.
  • Flexibility and willing to perform all levels of work.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test.
  • Domestic and International travel is unlikely but may be required.
