Action Contre la Faim – Nigeria is willing to further expand its current operations by supporting agropastoral communities in the North West of Nigeria through the promotion of gender sensitive initiatives for climate change adaptation.

To achieve this, AAH needs a deeper understanding of the traditional roles assigned by local communities to different gender groups (women, youths, ethnic minority) as well as their specific vulnerabilities and challenges over the access and control of natural resources; plus, the local actors and initiatives supporting gender-sensitive adaptation and mitigation of local production systems amongst State actors, CSOs, research institutions and private sector. Hence, AAH intends to carry out a comprehensive gender analysis.

Objectives of the consultancy :

1. To produce a comprehensive gender analysis related to agro-pastoral activities, natural resources management, fuel/energy resource access, governance and use.
2. Generation of key recommendations to improve the share of tasks and decision-making at household and community level related to agro-pastoral activities, natural resources management, fuel/energy resource access, governance and use.

Profile of the consultant (Qualification and Experience)

The consultancy will be carried out by an international/national evaluation consultant(s) with the following profile:

1. At least master degree in sociology or any gender related study.
2. Minimum 5 years experience with national or international research institute or with international NGO. To be considered, experiences should be related to gender analysis or gender sensitive project implementation;

• Minimum of 2 publications on related topics – publications should be attached to the application for review;

1. Fluent in English;
2. Having conducted gender analysis in Nigeria is a plus;
