Job Description and Requirements

Terre Des Hommes Italia in Jordan is seeking a “Junior Accountant” on full-time base employment as per the below job profile.

Starting: Tentatively 24 April 2022

Duration: 12 months (including 3 months probation period) – Full-time

Duty Station: Amman (Jordan)

About TdH Italy:

Fondazione Terre des Hommes Italia Onlus (TdH It) is member of the International Federation of Terre des Hommes, member of AOI and partner of ECHO. Its mandate is the protection of children, with and without disabilities. In Jordan it is registered with the Ministry of Social Development since 2005 and it operates in the sectors of Protection, Education, Health, Basic Needs and Livelihood in the most vulnerable areas in Jordan (i.e. North and central governorates).

Program/ Department Summary:

All financial functions in Jordan are managed by the TdH Italy Finance Department, which includes manage various financial and accounting systems, processes, granting financial management and compliance in line with the donor requirements and TdH Italy’s internal policies. Moreover, providing timely reports to guarantee that financial resources are utilized efficiently and effectively.

General Position Summary

The Junior Accountant will work in the Finance Department under the leadership of the Finance Manager, ensuring the correctness and completeness of TdH Italy accounting records and being in charge of the monthly accounting cycle.

Job Profile:

  • Collect, record the vouchers in accordance with the internal procedures of TdH It. and the donor ensuring that the expenditures are fully and properly documented;
  • File vouchers and maintain voucher filing system ensuring that files are updated, complete and safeguarded on both system electronic and hardcopy.
  • Prepare photocopies and scan of vouchers and other supporting documents as required.
  • Process direct payments and advance requests;
  • Prepare cash and bank reconciliations
  • Prepare cash counts regularly,
  • Ensures a regular monitoring of the bank account(s).
  • Prepare photocopies and scan of vouchers and other supporting documents as required.
  • File vouchers and maintain voucher filing system such that files are updated, complete and safeguarded on both system electronic and hardcopy.
  • Help monitor project budget and financial expenditures and their conformity to the work-plan;
  • Be responsible for day-to-day project correspondence, information sharing and filing;
  • Prepare minutes of project meetings;
  • Prepare all documentation for contracts issuance;
  • Liaise with TdH Finance Manager on financial and administrative matters and ensure that all administrative and financial transactions are properly carried out according to the requirements of TdH It And the donor;
  • Help in the financial, budgetary and logistical closure of the project;
  • Responsible for minor procurement activities, including liaison with TdH Logistics and Procurement manager;
  • Perform any other relevant tasks assigned by TDH IT supervisor

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree or other diploma supported by specific working experience in, accounting, finance, business administration, economics or other related fields;
  • 1–3-year previous experience in NGOs,
  • Relevant experience with a Donor funded organization would be ideal, and experience with donors as AICS, UN and EU is a strong asset;
  • Arabic mother tongue and fluency in spoken and written English, Italian language knowledge is a strong asset;
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills with an eye for details;
  • Good computer skills, in particular good command of Word, Excel and Power Point;
  • Sharing the mission and the values of TdH Italy, adherence to TdH Italy policies and Code of Ethics.
