Project Accountant, Capital Projects

San Manuel Band of Mission Indians

Under the direction of the Capital Projects Manager the Project Accountant will provide quality financial services for capital projects. Services include CIP Activity Reporting; completing Requisition is, validating contract amendments, validating construction pay applications, and processing budget allocations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepares account reconciliations, including budget, cost, and open purchase orders.
  • Prepares financial cost reports for project management team.
  • Prepares analysis between budget and actuals for clarity on budget controls per project and combined projects assigned.
  • Supports the monthly close process to capture CIP accruals.
  • Maintains audit trail of cost, contract amendments and budget allocation to easily find files pertaining to project assigned.
  • Works closely with Construction Project Managers and Capital Projects Manager on forecasting cost and recording spend of projects assigned.
  • Retrieves, processes and saves documents requested by project manager, or other internal customers.
  • Prepares and scans electronic files into the shared drive logs and SharePoint system.
  • Maintains and organizes requisition documentation, audit files and supporting documents.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

Education/Experience/Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Construction Management or Project Management required.
  • Minimum four (4) years’ related experience required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational/experience requirements indicated above.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively respond to inquiries from vendors, managers, and employees.
  • Works well under pressure and responds to change in priorities well.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
