Duties/Responsibilities
- Maintain an effective accounting, finance and tax function, including prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial accounts and management reports
- Develop, execute, monitor, and adjust various complex expense allocations methods & controls
- Review of invoices and general ledger entries for proper presentation and reclasses as necessary
- Process accounts payable, time & expense reimbursements
- Prepare monthly reconciliations for cash, payroll, corporate cards, time and expense software, intercompany and related party receivable and payables
- Liaise and coordinate with Fund Administrators on Fund accounting, external auditors on Financial audit, and tax advisors on tax related issues, etc.
- Ensure compliance with all tax filing requirements and regulatory reporting
- Assisting with development of budgets and analysis on variances to budgets
- Prepare detailed reports on management company activities and determining cash flow
- Assist with the monthly/weekly estimate calculation & reporting process
- Assist with PM formulaic compensation calculation & reconciliation to administrator records
- Collaborate with IR group in preparing investor related reports & queries
- Cross-train on fund month-end close process, including review/reconciliation of admin price verification, shadow books & records, trial balance, shadow capital allocation calculation, etc.
- Enhance & create new accounting policies & procedures as well as implement technology solutions for scalable firm growth
- Support communication on accounting matters that involve all other groups at the firm
- Various routine & ad-hoc analytics relating to operations and accounting functions
Experience
- Required: 4+ years combined working at a mid-sized/large public accounting firm as well as experience working as a management company accountant
Education/License
- Required: Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in accounting
- Required: CPA license
Required Skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc.
- Past experience with management company accounting systems
- Experience in accounts payable best practices & workflows
- Ability to be adaptable to changing circumstances
- General understanding of product types (equities, options, bonds, futures, swaps, etc.)
- Comfortable in a highly regulated environment—obtaining management and/or Compliance approvals for any exceptions
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Highly motivated and driven to succeed at every task/job function
- Excellent time management and organization skills – balancing deadlines/priorities
- Strong attention to detail and self-review of work product
