CPS dedicates most of its work to the support of Porticus and Laudes Foundation, but also provides support to the Constanter Investment Office.

Job Description

The Head of Enterprise Risk is part of the Legal, Risk & Tax team within CPS. The team provides high-quality legal, tax, risk and assurance, compliance and internal audit support to the philanthropic organisations, their worldwide operating grant-giving operations as well as the Investment Office who run the investment portfolio.

The Head of Enterprise Risk acts as a coach, facilitator and constructive assessor to continuously improve Constanter’s control environment and to oversee compliance with applicable laws and regulations as well as internal policies and processes. In addition, the Head of Enterprise Risk provides countervailing power to the Constanter organisation to ensure adequate risk management and compliance.

The Head of Enterprise Risk has a pivotal role in further establishing risk management, combined assurance and compliance within the various parts of our organisation. The function also serves as a sparring partner.

Risk management, combined assurance and compliance are seen to be crucial aspects of the success of an organisation with a focus on driving value while doing the essential right. It is an exciting role at a relatively newly formed organisation and gives room for an entrepreneurial way of working and setting up the function and our organisation for its next level of maturity.

Our ideal candidate enjoys working in a dynamic start-up-like environment and has a 12+ years’ of relevant experience in the Risk, Assurance, Compliance, Business Security or Audit field(s) in an international environment.

In this role you have no direct reports. The Head of Risk reports to the Director Legal, Tax & Risk in Constanter Philanthropy Services (CPS).

Qualifications

Key responsibilities

  • Acting as a second line, responsible for focusing on non-investment risk, combined assurance and compliance matters and oversight of the Constanter organization, its subsidiaries and related parties
  • Authority to act on the applicable laws and regulations, act on the outcome of risk and compliance assessments, report and escalate on their status and issue specific (internal) audits for independent reviews
  • Coordinating and champion role regarding the establishment of combined assurance across the 4 lines of defence
  • Policy and methodology development and further enhancement
  • Manage the Incident Management process and monitor follow up of actions
  • Bringing the function and our organisation to the next level of maturity
  • Facilitate and host risk sessions with the various management teams as well as the top level governance bodies of our organisation
  • Performing and facilitating (compliance) risk assessments
  • Reporting on key non-investment risk and compliance issues, inc. key risk indicators, to management teams and our top level governance bodies
  • Provide recommendations to Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee and the Board regarding risk management and compliance policies, procedures, framework and reporting
  • Develop and maintain outstanding relationships with our auditees, relevant stakeholders and regulators through open and frequent communication
  • Liaise with other departments within CPS and consult with management and the Constanter risk and compliance community and wider stakeholders

Required qualifications

  • 12+ years’ of relevant experience in the Risk, Assurance, Compliance, Business Security or Audit field(s) in an international environment.
  • Knowledge of key tools applicable in risk management, such as: Enterprise Risk Management framework, Key Risk Indicators, Risk and Control Self Assessments, Scenario Analysis.
  • Good knowledge of internal audit and control methodologies.
  • Awareness of the regulatory requirements around risk & control and its impact on investment and philanthropic organizations.
  • Experience with investment management is considered to be a plus
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to adapt to a dynamic, complex environment.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships based on trust, integrity, consistency, and pragmatism.
  • Strong attention to details.

  • Hybrid working opportunity. We have a great office for you to work in and believe you can also be effective at home. We aim for a 40/60 office/home work balance.
  • You can work up to 10 days per year from abroad.

For this role, you must be a Swiss national or be eligible to work in Switzerland (i.e.: be in possession of a valid work permit for Switzerland).
