DRC has been present in Sudan since 2004, delivering life-saving programming in protection, emergency response, shelter, food security and livelihoods, disaster risk reduction, camp management, DRC currently implements projects in Central Darfur, South Kordofan, Gedaref, and Khartoum states.
DRC in Sudan office is looking for an experienced Emergency Response Coordinator, This role has a country focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines within the country. The role contributes to the development of country strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks. The role provides support and/or technical guidance to country operations while overseeing country activities.
Sector responsibilities: Multi-sector, life-saving interventions during acute crisis within the areas of protection, shelter and non-food items, camp management, water, sanitation and hygiene, food security (cash and in-kind), covering all stages of project cycle management from programme design to implementation and monitoring and evaluation. Including also emergency preparedness activities.
- Delivers organisation’s policies and programmes within sector area.

About the job
The individual will report directly to Head of Programme HOP. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
Emergency Management
- Develop, operationalize, and manage the emergency response plan and all related activities
- Support the startup and the implementation of emergency response by providing technical training, coaching, and follow for the newcomers, local partners and other relevant stakeholders.
- Develop project tools, including but not limited to Rapid Needs assessment tools and reports, Context updates reports, and other tools as needed.
- Review and Modify Emergency Response Standard operating procedure and guiding documents as needed.
- Managing information and providing constant information through periodical reports, SitRep, infographics, and other materials reflecting the emergency.
- Work closely with advocacy and communication teams and develop and share advocacy messages relevant to the emergency.
Coordination and representation
- Collaborate with relevant internal and external technical experts on issues related to the emergency
- Represent DRC at relevant coordination meetings
- Ensure integration of sector activities with other DRC sectors
- Coordinate with sector counterparts in other locations in the implementation of commonly funded projects
- Ensure good representation and reputation of the sector at all levels
- Actively participate in the internal coordination meeting
- Ensure and actively participate in regular sector meetings
General Programming & Operations
- Contributes to the daily operation with comprehensive knowledge in a specific area
- Carrying out sector needs assessment
- Ensure efficient and effective program implementation while following the budget and work plan
- Participate in preparing monthly/quarterly/annual highlights/reports and proposals and budgets for donors
Project development
- Provides technical guidance
- Assist in developing project plans and budgets for funding
- Assist in developing the projects’ Monitoring & Evaluation tools
- Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports to relevant authorities, other departments, and donors as needed
About you
- Bachelor’s degree or preferably Master’s degree in project management, international relations or any other relevant field.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, of which at least one is managing Emergency programming.
- Robust Program Management capacity and deep understanding of the project cycle management
- Technical expertise in one or more of the core sectors of DRC response
- Understanding of International Humanitarian Law and Protection risks
- Experience in implementation and working with local partners and ability to work and manage projects remotely
- Fluent in English, Arabic is advantage.
