Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is recruiting for the position of ‘Senior Payables Officer’ to join its dynamic and established Finance Division on a temporary basis of up to 52 weeks, covering maternity. The team is responsible for company accounts which include all transactions in and out of the organisation. Your role would be to ensure the timely and accurate processing of payments to vendors (internal & external), national and international; performing accounting and clerical tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions including aged creditors analysis and the reconciliation of vendor statements.

The successful candidate must have or be:

• Demonstrable track record of processing a high volume of transactions
• A strong customer service focus, and the ability to build effective working relationships with employees and external stakeholders/suppliers
• Expense-claim processing experience, knowledge and understanding
• The ability to work effectively in a team environment and to meet deadlines
• Proven experience of people management
• High level of computer literacy, experience using spreadsheets and accounting software and the application of Vlookup, pivot tables and SUMIF
• High attention to detail and an orderly approach to processing in a high volume, pace environment
• A good level of general knowledge and awareness of topical financial issues.
• Proven understanding of accounting principles and concepts (e.g. accounting for payables and receivables)
• General knowledge of charities sector
• Ability to prepare, analyse and verify routine financial documents, statements and reports
• Ability to show confidence in communicating with others
• A good level of literacy skills
• Computerised accounting payables experience, preferably Microsoft Dynamics AX and Unit 4
