Project Summary:

The U.S Agency for International Development Mission in Burma (USAID/Burma) will be supporting an anticipated activity, entitled “All Youth Learning” that will be implemented over a period of five years. The Activity will aim to strengthen the foundational literacy, numeracy, livelihoods, and life skills of targeted vulnerable youth in Burma, enabling them to become positive change agents as individuals, within their families and communities, and to the benefit of the larger society.

Position Summary:

Creative Associates seeks a Youth Specialist for an anticipated USAID-funded program in Myanmar. The Youth Specialist works to develop programming that supports vulnerable youth in Myanmar to develop life skills and workforce readiness skills.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Define what types of approaches could be used to engage youth for participation in the project; devise ways families, communities, ethnic education organizations (EEOs), other civil society organizations (CSOs), religious organizations and/or other types of training institutions can be involved in supporting youth education in this Activity.
  • Design strategies that can engage youth and support local community needs for improving learning and skills training.
  • Design strategies that could be used to identify and develop relationships with potential employers to support or create locally-relevant employment opportunities for youth.
  • Works to proactively assist in identifying local, regional and national opportunities to support the employment and career advancement efforts of at-risk youth to enable them to secure jobs in targeted sectors.
  • Facilitates lasting relationships among workforce development providers in support of their efforts to secure employment or career advancement for youth in at-risk communities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a field related to workforce development strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in workforce development, youth development, and/or professional education.
  • Experience in the region required; experience in Myanmar strongly preferred;
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects and programs that enhance human capital development.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in youth.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork.
  • Professional fluency in English and Myanmar language.
