Summary of Position:

IREX seeks qualified, young and emerging leaders to serve as a Youth Engagement Specialist on an anticipated project to empower and engage youth-led and youth-serving organizations in strengthening opportunities for young people. This position is contingent on funding. Citizens of Bangladesh and Nepal are encouraged to apply.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Employ a positive youth development approach to inclusively engage key stakeholders and deliver impactful interventions that build capacity of youth-led and youth-serving organizations;
  • Supervise staff as assigned; oversee partner technical work as applicable;
  • Support project MEL activities and draft project/activity reports;
  • Foster productive working relationships with various regional communities, civil society organizations, and local and national government counterparts;
  • Provide training and technical assistance to project partners.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in a related field;
  • At least 4 years of progressive, relevant experience in Bangladesh or Nepal;
  • Experience applying best practices in positive youth development;
  • Knowledge of key stakeholders who are working with youth and government, youth policies, priorities and processes, institutions, and networks;
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with senior government officials; youth groups; media, civil society, private sector leaders, and education sector officials, international donors, and other stakeholders;
  • Technical expertise or experience in organizational capacity development, youth skills development, youth civic engagement, and or youth networks support;
  • Past experience on donor-funded projects desired
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
