Crossover for Work

Crossover is the world’s #1 source of full-time remote jobs. Our clients offer top-tier pay for top-tier talent. We’re recruiting this role for our client, gt.school. Have you got what it takes?

Have you competed at an elite level (Division 1 Collegiate Athletics, Professional, Olympics, etc.)? Do you enjoy working with kids? Do you want to help the next generation of young people become the success story of their dreams?

We’re looking for high-performing individuals who understand that students have unlimited potential and that success is the combination of hard work, discipline, and consistency.

GT School is an innovative start-up in the education sector. We firmly believe that the mindset and habits that make successful athletes are the same traits that make successful people.

In this role, you will virtually connect with gifted and talented students and foster their academic achievement. In addition, you will be a role model who shares personal experiences through sport to instill life skills in students.

GT School is building an online community focusing on the most underserved customer base in US education – Gifted & Talented kids. GT School utilizes a winning combination of technology, coaching, and community to deliver motivation by the boatload. We equip students with the mindset and habits to achieve their potential.

If getting to work with kids, using your background in sports, and talking about goals and motivation every day sounds too good to be true, it’s because the remote coaching job was designed for someone like you. We would love to have you join our team of like-minded coaches today!

What You Will Be Doing

  • Conducting 1:1 calls and group calls with students over Zoom to motivate and coach students (working around their schedule in North American time zones)
  • Using adaptive technology to understand better where a student is at in their academics and how they can improve
  • Running our Life Skills Boot Camp with cohorts of students entering the program
  • Developing common interests by learning about what kids love
  • Fostering accountability through positive feedback and connection, not authority
  • Collaborating with other coaches to continuously upgrade our curriculum and coaching strategies

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Teaching math, grammar, science, or any academic material
  • Supervising students as an authority figure or “managing” students
  • Spending time with students without a clear purpose
  • Setting a low bar for what students can achieve

Youth Development Specialist Key Responsibilities

  • Motivating students to their full potential through encouragement, guiding them to success, and celebrating their accomplishments
  • Creating a relationship with students based on trust and a personal connection; students need to want to talk with you, not dread it
  • Delivering motivation and inspiration based on positive feedback and student-led conversations
  • Sharing the life skills gained through personal sports experiences to help cultivate ownership, confidence, and positive habits
  • Maintaining a VERY high standard of excellence

Basic Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience as an athlete in an elite setting (Division I college sports, Olympic teams, Professional athletics, etc.)
  • 1+ years of experience working with kids ages 11 – 17
  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
  • Candidates must be able to pass a criminal background check
