Welfare Adviser

East European Resource Centre

EERC provides advice, independent advocacy, and support to Eastern European nationals in London. Our advice covers immigration, benefits, and housing matters. Independent Advocacy supports survivors of hate crime, domestic abuse and labour exploitation.

We are seeking a Polish-speaking Welfare Adviser to join our team. This role is full time for a fixed term of one year.

This role will provide important support to our clients. The main duties will be:

  • Outreach and information to Eastern Europeans in the UK
  • Advice and casework around welfare benefits and housing applications

The ideal candidate would have some experience in assessing and supporting users to apply for welfare benefits. Please state your experience in this and other advice areas.

EERC is open to appointing a Welfare Assistant, Welfare Adviser, or Senior Welfare Adviser depending on the level of experience and skills. The job description given is for a Welfare Adviser. A Welfare Assistant would have less responsibility and a Senior Adviser would have more responsibility including complex casework and supervision.

This job can be done entirely from our office or in a hybrid between office and work from home. EERC is well set up to facilitate safely seeing clients in the office as well as working remotely.

Please note: this post-holder will liaise with users who are unlikely to speak good or any English, might struggle with literacy, and have experienced disadvantage and trauma. Therefore, we request a fluent or very good Polish-speaker for this role.

How to apply – Please send a completed application form to [email protected] by the deadline.

Deadline – 10am on Monday 15 August 2022.
