Website Content Manager

The Website Content Manager leads on managing, maintaining and developing Crisis Group’s website. You are responsible for ensuring that content is up-to-date, the website structure is in line with industry best practices and that bugs are resolved quickly and efficiently, working with an external agency. You will develop and implement strategies to grow web traffic and increase Crisis Group’s visibility online, including by creating a robust SEO strategy. By taking a data-driven approach, you will track website performance, establish and refine KPIs and adjust goals accordingly. We are looking for a self-starter who is creative and has a strong desire to experience the many different facets and phases of digital production.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as web content manager and manage every-day operations of Crisis Group’s website, ensuring that both content and structure are in line with constantly evolving best practices;
  • Create, develop and maintain new visual, creative and interactive website content in coordination with program staff, Communications, and external agencies as relevant;
  • Create, maintain and continuously optimise effective content such as landing pages and new website features, applying SEO and UX/CX best practices in coordination with an external agency when relevant, and other colleagues at Crisis Group;
  • Be the main point of contact for both staff and external development partners;
  • Define, agree and track the delivery of website improvements, new features and functionalities;
  • Create strategies to grow web traffic and help achieve website-related communications objectives;
  • Track, manage and optimise Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager and full-funnel website metrics;
  • Develop and implement SEO strategies and use Google Analytics monitor to refine approaches to drive up levels of digital engagement;
  • Create and track KPIs and take a data-driven approach to testing and optimisation.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining content and strategies for a substance-rich websites;
  • A degree or certificate in digital project management, digital marketing, project coordinating or a relevant subject is a plus;
  • A combination of creative, technical, performance marketing and project management skills;
  • Cutting edge understanding of digital storytelling and demonstrated experience in creating and developing compelling digital content on complex issues;
  • Experience of analysing digital campaigns and the ability to use Google Analytics and understand Search Engine Optimisation, including keyword research and its application to SEO, and a clear understanding of how Google’s algorithm ranks pages;
  • Basic working knowledge of HTML and CSS, understanding vanilla JavaScript a plus;
  • Basic working knowledge of spreadsheets and data management using Google Sheets/Excel;
  • Good organisational and time management skills and the ability to work to deadlines, prioritise and multi-task in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong attention to detail, initiative, and follow through skills;
  • Strong interest in international affairs, conflict prevention and foreign policy;
  • Experience using open-source CMS, experience using Drupal is a plus;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
