What do we do?

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC) in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Context:

The ICRC structure in Debrecen is a Logistic Support Hub for the ICRC Delegation and humanitarian operations in Ukraine (UA).

Main responsibilities

The Warehouse Manager ensures that general warehousing activities are properly carried out in line with standard operating procedures (SOPs). S/he organizes and plans the warehouse’s activities and has final responsibility for the inventory.

Functional Responsibilities:

• Ensures that goods are received, stored and dispatched according to the SOPs; immediately reports any problems or discrepancies.

• Ensures that warehouse space is well utilized and makes recommendations for layout changes.

• Ensures that goods are properly segregated within the warehouse.

• Ensures that warehouse regulations and rules on pest control and hygiene are applied.

• Records information and is responsible for filing and providing statistics and other reports.

• Ensures that bin cards and stock cards are kept up to date.

• Organizes inventory counts, records and investigates claims and takes corrective action.

• Determines order preparation and planning along with the entire supply chain.

• Ensures that cargo manifests and related documentation, permits and licenses are received and properly handled at the dispatch warehouse and for export.

• Ensures that warehouse statistics are accurate.

Desired profile and skills

• University degree or high-level technical degree (graduate level); specialization in inventory management an asset.

• Computer proficiency (Microsoft Word and Excel, warehousing-management tools).

• Knowledge of enterprise resource planning software an asset.

• 6 years’ experience in a similar position.

• Confirmed people-management experience.

• Responsible and well-organized

• Excellent command (spoken and written) of Hungarian.

• Good command of English (B2 Level)

• Commitment to the ICRC’s humanitarian mandate

• Strongly motivated by humanitarian work

• Type of contract: Resident contract in accordance with Hungarian labor law.

• Length of assignment: 6 months extendable
