The Opportunity
Waliku is a Save the Children technology team that provides bespoke solutions for digital data capture and analytics on learner education and well-being. Since inception in 2016, Waliku has grown from a proof-of-concept study and pilot to supporting Save the Children projects in multiple sites globally. At Waliku we provide technology for development (T4D) solutions, which include a suite of digital tools, analytics, an accompanying implementation toolkit and value-added services. In doing so, we expect projects and particularly educators, be it in formal or non-formal schooling, can recognize and address gaps in learner attendance, education progression, health and well-being in a timely manner.
End users of our tools could be project office staff, frontline workers, or counterparts in the community- district education officers, school supervisors, school principals / administrators, teachers, community educators, parents and caregivers. In connecting various stakeholders digitally, we also facilitate communication and coordination between them to meet children’s right to education, well-being and achieving their fullest potential.
The Waliku team is seeking an implementation manager to support the scale up of our support across multiple projects and countries, utilizing and improving upon our implementation support tools and practices. Applicants must have direct management experience with the roll-out of digital technology products and client support.
Key Responsibilities

Oversight of Planning, and Management of Implementation with Client Teams

Seek the log-frames, MEAL plans, and implementation plans (DIPs) and other relevant program documents of client projects in order to develop a digital MEAL plan/ task planner for Waliku support and milestones. Ensure the client projects are set up with an MS Teams site, complete relevant templates from Waliku, e.g for mapping internal and external stakeholders, and completing a formative assessment on stakeholder interests/ context.

Conduct weekly/ other routine meetings with client projects to ensure progress on digital intervention milestones.
- Prepare for these meetings with an agenda based on project current status and activities to be completed.
- Review the monitoring dashboards in advance of the meeting to understand current status of digital intervention rollout and to interpret results on learner participation, and outcomes for further discussion with the client.
- Support with tactical advice, templates and examples from Waliku’s implementation toolkit to assist with any activities and bottlenecks experienced.
- Take targeted notes of the points discussed for follow up by the Waliku team and client project,
- Maintain communication between meetings through short messaging platforms (Teams/ Whatsapp etc) to ensure progress on key activities

Coordinate closely with various stakeholders in the client office – senior management, project coordinators, MEAL focal points- to ensure appropriate M&E approaches are in place, with specific attention to the requirements for projects, local governments and communities. Ensure the implementation of digital transformation are in ways that are responsive to key stakeholders, both communities (schools, children, families, government) and others (Save the Children, donors) as a way to ensure local ownership and sustainability.

Work in tandem with other members of the Waliku Team, for inputs on design, engineering, data analytics, communications, finance and strategic guidance in the management of client projects.

Conduct review meetings and lessons learned workshops with the client project teams at the end of each academic cycle to assess outcomes and impact of the digital intervention and obtain feedback for improvement and assist with the next steps for the client for upcoming cycle/s.

Orient and oversee the implementation officer to support in delivering the above, assigning relevant projects and tasks to the officer.

Manage the development of Implementation Tools and Processes, and inform Waliku’s Training processes, Learning Agenda, and Communications

Develop and maintain as a continuous improvement undertaking on Waliku’s implementation toolkit. Support the development, design and/or improvement of new implementation tools based on feedback from teams

Support the engineering and comms focal point as needed with contents for trainings, preparing materials, testing their quality, and suggesting any improvements.

Support the Waliku team lead with the inputs and review of materials for Waliku’s learning agenda.

Coordinate with the comms focal points on a routine basis to update Waliku’s website, social media sites and information briefers on Waliku; regularly collect photos from existing client base and ensure documentation with support from comms team as required.

Orient and oversee the implementation officer to support in delivering the above, assigning relevant activities to the officer.

Assist Waliku’s design team with user-centered and service-centered design support

Get briefed from the Waliku design team on the specific use-case and context of the client project, their context, and assist with the final documentation and presentation of the formative assessment findings to the client project, as well as the development of workflow murals.

Work with Waliku Team colleagues to ensure that the country team are adapting digital tools based on user needs, pain points, motivations/ behaviours, and actively tracking their activities inclined with existing workflows.

Assist with the first level of user-acceptance testing of tools for new releases of Waliku’s in-house app, as well as of third-party tools and newly configured tools, before the training of client teams take place.

Reiterating steps of using app for better identifying problem faced by client projects.

Communicate any changes needed in the digital-tool use to Waliku Team members and client counterparts so that these can be incorporated in to the workflows, metrics for tracking performance, and user-stories.

Orient and oversee the implementation officer to support in delivering the above, assigning relevant activities to the officer.
