Responsibilities: 

Review and approve all activities, products, and services (and related agreements) that will be conducted or executed by W1TTY to make sure that they are in line with the resolutions of HSA (Higher Sharia Authority).
Review of Shariah compliance and control checklists and standard operating procedures
Develop performance measurement tools for the Shariah compliance.
Submit reports regarding the status of compliance of audit observations to the Shariah Board (SB).
Collecting the information and keep the records of the implementation of (and adherence to) any new HSA’s resolutions.
Prepare documentation for regulatory authorities.
Identify and assess the customers’ requirements for Islamic finance products and provide guidance.
Conduct Sharia compliance reviews for Islamic products from development stage to the product offering and recovery to ensure compliance against the applicable Sharia requirements.
Conduct periodic Sharia compliance reviews for businesses, Islamic distribution channels to ensure compliance with the applicable Shariah requirements.
Reviewing new policies and procedures to make sure that they are in line with the Sharia compliance requirements.
Participate in examining proposals of contracts and products relevant to the Bank work and activities.
Answer questions and clarifications sought by clients and employees concerning the Sharia correctness of procedures or transactions, and clarifying the viewpoint of Sharia Board, if any, otherwise refers them to the Sharia Board to provide answers.
Conduct Sharia Compliance Assessment (SCA) to assess whether the Islamic banking operations and business practices comply to the applicable Sharia requirements.
To prepare and submit the Sharia compliance reports.
Conduct Sharia compliance awareness and assessment and/or briefing (if necessary) to the relevant staff.
Conduct Sharia compliance reviews for Islamic products from development stage to the product offering and recovery to ensure compliance against the applicable Sharia requirements.
Conduct investigations on non-compliance incidents specific to Shariah cases.
Keep and maintain accurate records of providing advice done by Compliance team in respect of Sharia compliance to all relevant stakeholders.
 

Qualifications/Requirements:

A qualified Sharia officer is an officer who holds at least a bachelor’s degree in Sharia
At least 5 to 7 years of professional experience in Islamic compliance within banking industry.
Experience in assignments related to Islamic finance
Significant knowledge and expertise of Compliance laws, rules, regulations, risks and appropriate controls
Highly motivated, strong attention to detail, team oriented, organized
– Ability to communicate, in a timely manner, with the Board on regulatory updates which may affect the business.
Strong working knowledge and understanding of Banking business.
