VSSR Service Assistant

The VSSR Service Assistant is someone who can provide supportive services and community resource connections to older adults and adults with disabilities in a nurturing and caring manner. This position works across multiple permanent supportive housing sites.

FLSA Classification: Non Exempt

Responsibilities

  • Assistance with daily activities
  • Provide senior and disabled residents with connections to community resources and direct assistance as needed
  • Educating veteran on skills needed to maintain housing stability
  • Transportation scheduling
  • Appointment reminders
  • Assistance with personal care needs of the resident (bathing, dressing, eating, etc.)
  • Assistance with habitability and food access (routine house cleaning, meal preparation, shopping, laundry, etc.)
  • Assistance with self-administration of medication
  • Observe and report any changes in resident’s condition and work with Pilot and other PSH staff to coordinate care of residents
  • Ability to connect residents to resources needed to ensure their ability to remain independently housed such as transportation and in-home support services
  • Data entry into the Service Assistant log and other VSSR related forms that document the assistance they provide and answer specific questions about observations for each veteran they assist
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of experience working in residential milieus with senior and/or adults with disabilities
  • Compassionate and patient nature interacting with residents
  • Must pass public record background check
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
