Can you take responsibility for leading externally funded youth and volunteer engagement programmes, managing externally funded project teams creating smooth processes for the setting up, implementation and setting down of time limited programmes?

About this opportunity**

This exciting new post is part of the British Red Cross’ new Volunteering and Youth team within People Services. This new team, created as part of a recent transformation programme, will set the future direction for volunteering and youth engagement at the BRC and support the entire organisation to ensure volunte ers and young people are engaged in meaningful ways that work for them and help deliver our strategy.

As the Volunteering and Youth Programme Delivery Manager, you’ll manage a portfolio of programmes, while working with both youth engagement and volunteering leads to identify appropriate needs/opportunities suitable for additional external funding to inform ongoing work with fundraising teams.

You’ll lead the development and ongoing implementation of a suite of diverse programmes that contribute to overall objectives and generate opportunities for innovation and learning, providing oversight and line management support to the programme delivery teams.

You’ll manage processes to gather insight from across the centres of excellence to identify potential activity/programmes suitable for flagging to fundraising teams or for partnerships, seeking out external opportunities to showcase British Red Cross activities to influence the wider sector and position us a partner of choice leading to future partnerships.

  • You have proven people management experience, providing leadership, direction and supporting your staff’s wellbeing, along with experience of applying an equitable and accessible approach to recruiting and inducting staff
  • You can demonstrate a record of successfully delivering externally funded programmes, managing competing priorities and changing requirements, from ideation through to continuous improvement
  • You are comfortable working with external funders and partners to achieve objectives and drive change and new ways of working through collaboration and building positive relationships with colleagues to achieve your shared goals
  • You have a proven record of coproduction in strategy, product or service development along with experience of engaging, advising and negotiating with stakeholders at all levels of an organisation
  • You are financially astute, can prepare and monitor project budgets and can communicate in a clear and engaging way, keeping people informed in the right way at the right time, making the complex easy to understand

About the Team

The new Volunteering and Youth function will provide recruitment, deployment and retention support, based on prioritised need. A key aspect is the delivery of high-quality volunteer management support across the organisation, ensuring that those responsible for volunteers have the skills to always deliver a high-quality experience for them. The function also houses our award-winning Volunteer Support Line, a vital and valued service to support our volunteers wellbeing.
