What will you be doing?
The Sea Cadets is the UK’s leading maritime charity and provides a head start in life for young people through nautical adventure and fun. Our volunteers work, both directly with young people and behind the scenes, to help make a positive difference to teenagers who are often struggling in today’s world and their communities.
Tameside Sea Cadets, is currently looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated volunteer to join its Unit Management Team (UMT) to support the management and sustainability of the unit. Tameside is a long-established Sea Cadet Unit that has provided life-changing opportunities for many young people from the local community.
About The Role
Sea Cadet units are managed and run by committed volunteers, The Unit Management Team (UMT) are the units trustees. The UMT is responsible for the running of the unit at a strategic and management level.
The primary purpose of UMT Trustees is to support the Unit chair to manage a safe, effective and successful Sea Cadet unit, this includes health & safety, insurance, fundraising, utilities, the unit minibus, governance and resources/equipment.
Our Unit Management Team meet for approx.1-2 hours on a monthly/bi-monthly basis.
What are we looking for?
If you have skills or experience with fundraising, governance, community networking, social media or business skills you would be a great asset to the team. Previous management or committee experience would help, although having the right attitude and a passion for improving the lives of young people are the most important things! By being actively involved in the Unit Management Team you will be ensuring the unit is safe, successful and sustainable, allowing more young people to access the fantastic opportunities available to them through Sea Cadets.
