Volunteer Strategy and Policy Manager Contract – Permanent Full time – 35 hours per week Salary – From £40,000 + £3344 Inner London Weighting if applicable Location – flexible / home or local office or mix of both

This exciting new post is part of the British Red Cross’ new Volunteering and Youth team. This new team, created as part of a recent transformation programme, will set the future direction for volunteering and youth engagement at the BRC and support the entire organisation to ensure volunteers and young people are engaged in meaningful ways that work for them and help deliver our strategy.

Why this role matters…

You will lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the volunteering elements of our BRC volunteer and youth mobilisation strategy. Your work will pave a way for the BRC to ensure its volunteering offer remains relevant and able to attract people to support our activity.

What you’ll be doing…

You will also be responsible for ensuring our strategy is implemented and volunteering policies are appropriate, proportionate, and compliant to legislation. You’ll design and review quality standards for the organisation to gain assurance across volunteering activity.

You’ll create the conditions for staff to flourish by empowering and enabling them to deliver and be part of a wider team that is continually learning, reflecting, and seeking to be ‘best in class’ as designers and guardians of our volunteering ambition and experience.

What you’ll bring to the role…

– Experience of developing strategy and delivering complex programmes – Proven record of coproduction in strategy, product or service development – You are a passionate advocate to influencing change and upskilling colleagues to play their part in delivery equity for our users – You have experience of working across teams to support others to achieve their objectives as well as to drive change and new ways of working

– People management experience

About the Team…

You’ll be part of the new Volunteer Experience team within Volunteering and Youth which is responsible for developing and delivering volunteer strategy, polices, awards and recognition and designing new volunteering products. It’s a great time to join us, as we refocus our efforts to start a new phase aiming for excellence in volunteering.

The closing date for this vacancy is midnight on the 27th of July, with interviews taking place on zoom across the following two weeks.
