Volunteer Opportunity

Lawyers for Justice in Libya

We are looking for volunteers with a passion for human rights to join our team. Our new volunteer programme offers applicants the opportunity to gain hands-on work experience at a leading human rights NGO and to develop knowledge of the human rights field through various channels including casework, research and communications. The programme is flexible, and we are eager to hear from versatile individuals willing to give anything a go! In return, volunteers will be part of LFJL’s small but strong, close-knit team.

We are especially keen to hear from applicants based in the UK who can join us in our London office from September. Time commitment can vary between 10 – 25 hours per week for a minimum of 3 months.

We are particularly interested to hear from Arabic-speaking volunteers and/or those from the Libyan diaspora.

These are some of the areas in which you could support us:

  • Monitoring the human rights and conflict situation in Libya, and producing news and updates;
  • Contributing to LFJL’s research and documentation work;
  • Supporting the organisation of online and offline events, workshops, and trainings;
  • Supporting LFJL’s communications activities (e.g. social media, drafting written content, Arabic English translations).

What we offer:

  • Hands-on experience collaborating with different teams and staff across a leading NGO;
  • Develop your knowledge of human rights and law, particularly in the Libya context;
  • A reference for future employment opportunities.
