Humanitarian emergencies can happen anywhere. The Humanitarian Logistics Association is a global non-profit membership organisation supporting solutions that are locally sustainable and globally enabled to deliver aid more effectively.

What will you be doing?

To strengthen the value and operation of the charity, we are looking for a Membership Coordinator to help manage on-boarding and membership communication processes via our new website. Duties would involve

  • Engage with and explain the benefits of HLA membership to international and national NGOs (HLA will provide the contacts)
  • Support NGOs to become a member
  • Provide HLA website training to NGO (and individual) users to
    • Advertise tenders, jobs, events, training and other posts
    • Search for international and local consultants
    • Create and post to private and public groups
    • Post blogs and chats to the sector – with linkage to HLA social media channels
    • Find people working in the humanitarian aid / logistics sector
    • Access or contribute to the humanitarian logistics knowledge database
  • Work with the HLA Website Administrator to answer support queries from users and help to improve the website by
    • Working with members to identify, collate and prioritise website user feedback
    • Support the testing of agreed fixes/enhancements implemented, tested and live
    • Promote new enhancements to existing and new members
  • Provide communications support and help to manage membership renewals

What are we looking for?

In addition to the general responsibilities, we seek someone ideally with experience of working with a social enterprise, for-profit or non-profit organisation to

  • Provide advice to the HLA membership operations by supporting the delivery of the organisation’s charitable purposes in order to provide greater public benefit internationally and at local levels
  • Provide advice on membership strategy for the organisation
  • Provide objectivity to decision-making

More than ever, effective logistics management and getting the right people together at the right time makes the difference. The Humanitarian Logistics Association (HLA) is a non-profit membership organisation with a global reach. HLA’s goal is to empower logisticians to drive cross sector solutions that are locally sustainable and globally enabled to deliver aid more effectively.

Our members are drawn from across the sector – NGOs, private sector suppliers, academics and individuals working on the front line. HLA provides a platform for them to come together to share knowledge, collaborate and discuss innovative solutions which deliver aid swiftly to people, when they need it most.

In order to deliver value to our network and continue to build credibility around the world, it is essential that the HLA maintains a valuable membership structure. The Membership Coordinator will play an important role in supporting this process.

What’s in it for the volunteer?

Joining HLA will enable the volunteer to connect with a wide range of people working in humanitarian aid, private and public sectors around the world – particularly in areas that are prone to crisis. The role will be intellectually and technically challenging but will be an opportunity to learn about how to make a difference to international emergency preparedness and response from a supply chain and logistics perspective.

Arrangements to cover miscellaneous work and travel expenses will be made as necessary.
