Volunteer External Trustee (specialist in ageing/gerontology/social care for older people) at Corporate Foundation | McCarthy Stone Foundation

Reach Volunteering

The McCarthy Stone Charitable Foundation is a small grant making charity supporting grassroots charitable causes that work with older people (over 65).

What will you be doing?

Following a skills audit last year, the board recently recruited a new trustee with specialist skills in grant making, and is now seeking to further diversify the skills and experience within the trustee team. We are looking to add a further trustee, who can bring experience and insight into the challenges facing older people in society. In particular we would like to find someone with a background in gerontology, social care for older people, or ageing.

You will be joining a board with a real mixture of experience and sectors, and have the opportunity to work across all aspects of the charity’s governance as the charity continues to grow and develop.

What are we looking for?

The main criteria we are seeking is a demonstrable record of experience and expertise in ageing/gerontology/social care for older people.

What difference will you make?

As part of our board you will be the guiding influence on where we should be focusing our strategy and grant making to ensure we are best meeting the needs of older people’s health and wellbeing. You will provide insight and guidance, and help our board (and wider stakeholders) to better understand the issues, and our approach to dealing with them.
