Background

The Volunteer Engagement consultant will support the development and resumption of GVE program for the AFR Area Office. This will include including VE strategy development, systems and processes, scheduling, relationship management, recruitment, and recognition.

Objective

  1. Deliver the AFR volunteer engagement strategic framework
  2. Finalized plan on the resumption of the GV program
  3. Development of on-boarding and training material for Volunteers and NOs Knowledge management – work with AFR ‘s knowledge management teams to create a resource that will be used by AO on VE

Strategy development – 30%

  • Support the development of the AFR volunteer engagement framework and contribute to development of the International Volunteer Expertise Hub
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts in the AFR Area Office to support the volunteer program strategy

Resumption of Volunteer Activities – 50%

  • Support the management of local in-person volunteering activities through reviewing processes and required documents with the NOs and AO
  • Support the resumption of international volunteering activities for AFR
  • Cultivate mission-aligned partnerships to enhance volunteer engagement opportunities
  • Advance the role of volunteers and recruit new volunteers through internal and external networks
  • Lead the development and delivery of training to newly recruited volunteers, NOs
  • Contribute to funding strategies and proposal development to support program

Volunteer engagement training and best practices – 20%

  • Contribute input and serve as a resource for volunteer engagement best practices. Review volunteer satisfaction data and work with operational teams to develop engagement and retention strategies to improve volunteer satisfaction.
  • Participate in the implementation, execution and monitoring of the volunteer engagement and retention strategy to include interaction with the volunteer community both personally and through the volunteer infrastructure.
  • Participate in the development of a thorough volunteer needs assessment for assigned area. Meet with stakeholders and ensure alignment of established goals to volunteer needs.

Participate in the development and implementation of a comprehensive onboarding program for each volunteer position.

  • Support the volunteer training plan. May serve as a Facilitator for all volunteer training coursework. Provide guidance on volunteer programs, tools and resources. Provide support and direction to volunteer trainers and ensures training is thorough and documented.

Reporting Line : Reporting to Director, Operations – AFR

Expected profile of the consultant

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in volunteer management
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Team, PowerPoint)
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Ability to network and form partnerships/alliances with organizations both inside and outside of HFHI
  • Strong leadership, planning, organizational, and diplomatic skills
  • Ability to maintain cross-cultural sensitivity
  • Strong writing and communication skills

• Formal training in volunteer management

Evaluation Process

HFHI will evaluate the proposals and award the assignment based on technical and financial feasibility. HFHI reserves the right to accept or reject any proposal received without giving reasons and is not bound to accept the lowest or the highest bidder
